So great it will be the taste of the music that the sound is born, even
on hostile territory. So great it will be a desire by a Jerusalem peacefully,
that music is born in spite of its conflicts with Palestine. So great
it will be the taste by the music of TRESPASS,
that in spite of everything write, they interpret and they look for to
expand his horizons, beyond the popular conflicts and tastes.
"In Haze Of Time" is the first album of this originating group
of Jerusalem, Israel. The first thing that calls my attention is the title
of the disc, name that it suggests a dispersed walk, mysterious, deformed
to the distant spot by its movement to affect the natural visible perception
of the world. The second is the name of the group, that inevitably makes
me to suppose here that they will sound like GENESIS
and to demand a lack of originality, present here by an own prejudice.
What follows is to review the credits and to see how the band is made
up: Gil STEIN (keyboards, voice), Gabriel WEISSMAN (drums)
and Roy Bar-tour (bass), interpret this seven cuts CD instrumental
in its majority, in which when there are lyrics are writen by STEIN,
the lyrics are innocent and they are sung in English. The musical adjustments
compose them between all and they record his CD in Gil's studio,
being himself the producer. The disc was recorded in January of the 2001,
but it was until June of 2002 that Musea puts its brand to it and its
formal distribution begins. Now yes, to listen to the disc...
In 44'19 ", TRESPASS exposes a classic symphonic progressive
rock in one strongly framed style within a support in the keyboards, in
where the changes are well supported by the bass and by a drum that it
indicates when and how to make ruptures, and how and when to support with
its cadence the unfolding of interpretation of STEIN. The style
is easily comparable with most characteristic in the keyboards of ELP,
NICE, and YES
mainly, decorated with the classic medieval elements, jazz and ruptures
of pulse, intention and bit that did of progressive rock a contemporary
musical glory in the 70's.
The first cut is Creatures of the night, an opereta of beginning
cheers and that with a choir of eight words suggests a subject that deals
with about the delights and shortages of the nocturnal life. Soon the
subject comes from the concept, In haze of Time, an existencial
doubt written in 3 and 5 4. Gate 15,
is the first instrumental subject on the disc, a typically progressive
cut and even with a Latin touch that invites all the passengers "to
enter by door 15". In fourth turn arrives City Lights, an
urban daze in 3 and 4 4. Orpheus suite
is another instrumental subject but of romantic, cadente cut. Troya
is for me the most excellent taste of the disc, an instrumental cut of
three movements, a better thought composition and more original, related
to the previous one. The disc finishes with The mad house blues,
a bonus track in rock 'n' roll style that the group defines as its Are
you ready Eddie? of the famous "Tarkus" album of ELP,
thus sealing its clear admiration and more remarkable influence.
In summary, "In Haze Of Time" is a disc of symphonic progressive
cut, characteristically elaborated by the elements and the influence with
which the progressive rock of the 70's is compossed. Something classic,
made today.
